A Refreshing Summer Brew

Wednesday, July 03, 2013 | COLUMN: Party Time

There aren’t many things I look forward to more than a Georgia summer. When the air feels like a steamy sauna, sounds of the tomahawk chop are heard on every television and frequent escapes to the lake become a weekend ritual. July 4th is the pinnacle of this season: a time to celebrate with friends, family, good food and refreshing cocktails! I fell in love with this Raspberry Summer Brew at first sip and can’t wait to make it on the fourth. It is the perfect way to cool down on a hot summer day and easy to make in large batches.

Your Patriotic Playlist

Monday, July 01, 2013 | COLUMN: Things We Love

by guest blogger Mara Davis

We’ve pulled together an all-American playlist to go along with pools, hot dogs, flags and parades. In addition to American rock classics (like Tom Petty, Simon and Garfunkel and John Mellencamp) we also found a few state songs (“Why Georgia”, “Portland, Oregon”). I particularly love Ryan’s Adam’s “New York, New York” because it mentions the 4th of July. And Wilco and Billy Bragg’s “California Stars” feels like the perfect summer night. Since everyone’s musical taste is eclectic, pop (Estelle and Kayne West) blends with the 70s (Ventura Highway); and in some strange way it all flows! Isn’t this why we love music?

Ever wonder who’s rocking Pür behind the scenes and on camera? We caught up with Rochelle Aytes from the hit new ABC series “Mistresses” on her way to PIX 11 News in New York. The ever-stylish star was seen touching up her look (created by celebrity makeup artist Saajida O’Quinn) with one of Pür’s hot new Lip Gloss Sticks. Talk about a screen-worthy pout!

On Camera with the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders

At the 2014 Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader calendar shoot, Pür pulled out all the stops to make the girls camera-ready! We used 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup to erase imperfections and Balancing Act to banish shine but still leave the girls looking fresh-faced. Our Lip Gloss Sticks were perfect for last-minute touchups because they provided just the right amount of sheer color and shine in one convenient jumbo pencil. Of course no swimsuit shoot would be complete without our famous Mineral Glow bronzer and waterproof Eye Defining Pencils. We had to keep those girls looking hot—not melted!

Gloss or Glaze?

Tuesday, June 11, 2013 | COLUMN: Tips & How-Tos

On a recent trip to my favorite hair salon, Azar Salon in Atlanta, owner Michael Azar helped me finally find the answer I needed to the burning question: which is better, gloss or glaze?

Q: My natural red hair looks dull and is starting to show a few gray streaks. I’d like to try a gloss or a glaze, but what’s the difference?

A: A gloss adds shine, adjusts the tone and lasts two to four weeks. A glaze coats the shaft with shine and semi-permanent color.

My choice: I went with a semi-permanent glaze that looks super natural, covers the gray and gives me healthy shine. Love it!
