2010 Summer Trend Report
May is a busy month. With school wrapping up, vacations being planned (or taken) and warm weather to enjoy, the days have a funny way of flying by. If you’re one of the millions who let Mother’s Day slip under the radar until now, fear not. Pür Minerals has got your last-minute gift alternative to the ubiquitous floral bouquet.
April 22, 2010 marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, a day set aside to raise awareness of the beauty and fragility of the world we all share and address the myriad concerns that threaten it daily. As cities worldwide “go green” with energy-saving initiatives and eco-friendly events, Pür proudly joins the cause, today and every day.
So, I don’t know how everybody across the US is coping with allergy season, but here in Atlanta the pollen is out of control! We’ve had the rainiest winter I’ve ever seen, and as a result, spring has most definitely sprung, flinging yellow dust all over my cat, my car and my face. As I write today, I am staring out the window I can see from my desk, just hoping for rain to wash this mustard monstrosity away.Until then, we have to deal with all the nasty symptoms of seasonal allergies, including my focus point of the day, eye irritation.
Last week marked the first time this year that the temperature in Atlanta hit the 80 mark for more than two days in a row. To say that the respite from the cold and rain was a welcomed relief would be an understatement. Within the first few sun-soaked hours, downtown streets and parks swelled to capacity, breaking an unseasonably long bout of cabin fever for a Sun Belt city. As I prepared to join my fellow sun chasers, it hit me that I was looking a bit pale. Alright, really pale. Something had to be done.
Spring is just around the corner, and summer will be here before we know it. I definitely let my hair get too long and out of control during the last few months, so I recently got a super fresh, springtime trim. I told Joy, my fabulous hair stylist “Chop it. Get rid of it. Hair must fly because it’s driving me bonkers!” I’ve worn varying lengths of short hair in the past, so this did not faze Joy at all.
While all of us long for a flawless finish to some degree, for those with oily skin, the path to perfection is often fraught with more pitfalls than most. The result of overactive sebaceous glands, oily skin produces more sebum—or natural oil—than normal. As a result, the skin frequently appears shiny, making makeup application difficult. Against this slicker surface, non-mineral makeup often struggles to adhere, and where it does, it runs the risk of clogging pores and causing breakouts.
When it comes to runway fashion, most of us look at the big picture—the outfits, the makeup, the hair—but often it’s the attention to detail that really nails the look. With this spring’s less-is-more attitude, it’s the little things that really make the difference. And if the view from the catwalk is any indication, fun, fresh nails are the finishing touch du jour.
In the Nude
Nude and neutral polishes are a springtime
no-brainer. While still fresh and fun, they’re the least in-your-face
and go with just about anything. Find the perfect shade for your skin

Last week I confessed that I love any excuse to bust-out my red lipstick, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion for a sexy, bold pout. Whether you’re on a romantic date, shaking what your mama gave you at the club or having an anti-Valentine’s girls’-night-out; red lips are super hot and will definitely make a statement. Many women shy away from this classic yet daring look in fear of looking like a sleazy circus clown. Fear not! Rouge is not a ruse. With a little know-how and proper technique, you can wear your crimson smile with confidence!
From pastel pink leggings to banded updos, the ballerina look took center stage on this spring’s runways, according to March’s Marie Claire. In an article titled “Ballet Basics,” the fashion and beauty authority laid out the season’s hottest rising stars, singling out Pür Minerals’ Hot Rocks as part of the look du jour.
