A tonal smoky eye is the perfect complement to your festive New Year’s Eve look. The key to a smoky eye that is bold without being too harsh is to use various shades of brown instead of black. Want to learn how to get this party perfect look?

Step 1

Start by lining your eye with dark brown liner in Chocolate Mica.

Step 2

Next, use our Holiday Elements Kit (link no longer available) to blend out the liner, following the shape of the eye. Use a blend of the shades Bark, Dusk and Passion, depending on your skin tone.

Step 3

Use the gold toned shadows, such as Allure (link no longer available) and Fairy (link no longer available), to highlight the inner and outer corners of your eyes as well as under the eyebrow. Since it’s New Year’s Eve, don’t be shy with the highlighter: add more than usual for some extra sparkle to make your eyes pop.

Step 4

Top off the look with a few coats of Big Blink Mascara. Be sure to keep the rest of your makeup light and subtle. Now you are ready to ring in 2014!
