Moscow’s Makeup Magic

Wednesday, December 04, 2013 | Makeup, Things We Love

Makeup artists love comparing the complexion to a canvas, but few have taken the analogy as literally—or as radically—as photographer Alexander Khokhlov and makeup artist Valeriya Kutsan. In their latest collaboration, 2D Or Not 2D, the Moscow-based duo uses boldly contrasting colors to bend the rules of perspective and blur the line between 3D and 2D art. The result is a visually stunning group of portraits with instantly recognizable features, ranging from comic book prints to computer pixels. Click here to view the collection.
