Six Tips for Healthy Winter Hair
Thursday, January 17, 2013 | Tips & How-Tos
Along with snow, winter often ushers in lackluster locks and untamed tresses. Fortunately, you don’t have to suffer a head full of unruly hair. Use these simple tricks to keep your locks lusciously hydrated, frizz-free and beautiful all season long.
Switch Up Your Shampoo
Switching up your shampoo once a week can help nix buildup and to give your locks a dose of beneficial ingredients.
Use Leave-In Conditioner
During the dry winter months, moisture is at a premium. Lock in vital hydration by using a leave-in conditioner at least once a week.
Shampoo Less
Washing hair every day can be incredibly drying, so skip a shampoo (or two).
Eat For Healthy Hair
Stock up on salmon, beans, dark leafy greens and nuts for beautiful hair, skin and nails. If you’re into taking supplements, look into biotin and fish oil (but make sure to speak with your doctor first).
Colder, Shorter Showers
Prolonged exposure to hot water can dry you—and your hair—out. Spend less time in the hot shower this winter, and your body will thank you.
Humidify
Switch on a humidifier in the colder months to help retain moisture and reduce static in hair and clothing.
