Shutterstock_719571 Happy Fat Tuesday, everybody!  Mardi Gras is legendary for its exciting parties, grand balls, marvelous masquerades and colorful, action-packed parades. In New Orleans and other cities in the Southeast, locals and tourists use beads, doubloons, extravagant costumes and delicious King Cake to party down. I’ve always wanted to participate in the Mardi Gras merriment, but for now, I’ll celebrate by highlighting the traditional colors of the festivities: Purple, Green and Gold! Each color has its own significance and symbolism, and these flirty, fun shades will have you saying “Laissez les bons temps rouler!” (Let the good times roll!)

The color purple stands for justice. Many women distance  themselves from bright eye colors, but if done tastefully with the perfect shades, like Pür Minerals Plum Quartz gel liner and matching  eye shadow singles, Lavender Mourite and Plum Slate, purple will certainly do you justice.

Green
symbolizes faith during Mardi Gras, and you mustn’t lose faith in this often misunderstood color. There are so many beautiful hues of green. Pür Minerals offers two lovely shades of Mineral Eye Defining Pencil, Emerald and Peridot. Accent your eyes with a splash of Midnight Jade or True Emerald eye shadow, and your friends will be green with envy!

Gold is a staple color in my makeup palette. I love to add a little sparkle to my look. Gold exemplifies power during Fat Tuesday festivities, and this shimmery metal tone always makes a statement. Using the Mineral Defining Pencil in gold can make your eyes pop, and a dusting of Sunlit Gypsum, Sunstone, Sandstone or Gold Dust will give your lids a glistening, golden glow.Spring-09-EyeshadowsHave fun with your makeup! Add a bit of color to your day, especially in the spirit of Fat Tuesday!
