You’ve got your new dress on, your makeup is flawless—but you still haven’t decided what to do with your hair! Not to worry, these simple, stylish dos will help glam up your look in a flash and make you the belle of the ball at those holiday parties.
A sophisticated updo is perfect for any holiday party from causual to black tie events. This versatile style works with women of every age with pretty much every hair type and length (aside from super-short cuts). Start by applying a styling cream and blow drying hair. Next, roll sections of your hair with hot rollers and spritz with hairspray. Once you remove the curlers, pull your hair back into a loose ponytail and pin chunks of your hair up to the center of your head. Don’t fret if every strand of hair isn’t perfectly in place. The beauty of an updo is that a little messy = a lot sexy.
A modern take on the 1920s flapper, this style is fun, flirty and always classy. The look works best for those with chin-length hair or shorter, but shoulder-length styles shouldn’t be afraid to take a stab at it. Wavy hair is a plus, but these loose curls can be achieved with the help of a little gel, hairpins and curlers. Pair with bright red lipstick for a glamorous, old-Hollywood feel.
This style is great for the office and gorgeous for an evening out, a perfect transitional day-to-night hairdo. The look is a must for those with high cheekbones, and looks absolutely lovely with a strapless dress to show off the shoulders and neck. Simply pull dry hair back into a ponytail (not too high, you don’t want to look like a cheerleader) and add a little smoothing serum such as Light Elements by Aveda. And now my favorite trick: Take a small chunk from the bottom of the ponytail and wrap it around the elastic band. Secure with a bobby pin and viola—a polished style straight off the runway.
