I have a unique blend of skin color/tones mixing some Cherokee Indian with Middle Eastern gives me a possibility of pink or olive for undertones. I pulled more olive. However, I'm not tan because I live in PA now (was born in FL). So, I tan very easily, but unfortunately with the summer fading into winter (I swear we skip fall), I lose my color and go right to white. It costs me so much in money with finding the right foundation but then I came across PUR and was so excited! Depending on the primer I use, I can actually keep my same shade of foundation (Golden Medium) throughout the year now. This has been that one added extra to add to my must-haves throughout the year! I wasn't sure I'd like this and was so scared of the reviews that it was too light, too dark, etc. Yes, it can be, but I'm finding for me, it depends on my primer. If I use the CC in Medium and put this over, I keep a shade that I should be for summer. If I use the primer in peach, I get a tad lighter and if I go with the green, I get even lighter (primer, foundation and then this). It's amazing that the primer can affect it alone! I wasn't sure this would hold that matte look, but it does, without looking fake. I attached a pic and here's what I have on: Primer in peach/natural, Golden Medium 4-in-1 Foundation and then Balancing Act over top. Spritzed with the Pur Mineral Mist to set and of course, the Big Blink mascara and Game Day shade lip color. I love this and I think it does an excellent job. I really do think it can work for almost any skin tone...but the primer is so important. I've worn this without a foundation and just over the top of primer and it looks fabulous and gives me a porcelain complexion...but for work, I like to make sure I'm set all day so I wear the foundation too.

Comments about Balancing Act Oil Control Powder:

I apply the powder on moisturised skin. It is completely natural in appearance and it feels light and smooth. It feels great not heavy or thick or rough like other powders. It blends into skin without leaving a white halo effect like translucent powders. It is simply the best product in my makeup collection. I have been using it for a few years now. I have been wearing makeup for over 30 years and no powder or foundation has ever come close to this. If I am raving on it is because I love it. It is fantastic.

I apply this after my 4-in-1 pressed power & it sets my make up. I have combination skin but the oily parts become shiny so fast. But, when I use this oil control power, my face stays shine free. I love it!!

I mainly get shiny on my t-zone, I like to dust this powder on after primer before I put my powder foundation. It really does work well to keep me looking cakey from oil on my face. Works really nice to touch up in the middle of the day, don't really have to work to blend it in. I have noticed that you can't put it on too heavy or it makes me look all powdery and it cakes up a bit during the day, so just need a little bit.

I have been in search of the perfect oily skin "controller!" I have tried almost every type there is (liquid, powder, astringent, facial wash, etc). I have very oily skin thanks to the inherited paternal gene. I took a a chance on the balancing act and I love it! I highly recommend to use over purminerals pressed foundation powder. I no longer have to blot my face after applying my make up.

Hello PUR Beauty, I too love Marble Bronze too! To achieve a bronze look, try PUR's Mineral Glow or Epic Illusion palette! Balancing Act is used more for shine control or mattifying the skin. It is a translucent powder and does not provide any bronzing to the skin.

Hello, I use the 4 in 1 so not sure that I need anything more on top of it, but I would like to try this product on days when I don't want as much coverage as my 4 in 1. My question: I am "mature" and my skin is not really very oily any more. I actually find it more dry, especially in winters here in Seattle. Will this powder look good (by itself, after I moisturize) on skin that is normal to dry? Thank you! HollyDolly

Hello PUR Beauty! I am glad you are loving your 4-in-1 Mineral Makeup! The Balancing Act powder is a translucent powder that is designed to mattify the skin. If you are looking for a "weekend-no makeup" look, you may want to consider the 4-in-1 Tinted Moisturizer or the new Hydrafluid water serum foundation! You may find these options favorable! You could also try applying your 4-in-1 Mineral Makeup with a fluffier brush, like a powder brush, for weekends!

Good morning to ya'll from over here in Southeast Texas!!!!

I am LOVIN' the purminerals products! I have the "green" primer (redness/red spider veins on cheeks), Air Perfection Cushion Foundation, and this Balancing Act Oil Control Powder!

The saleslady at Ulta dressed my face up & I just loved the results!~ Before putting on the makeup sets I mentioned she put on the Ceretin Serum and then the Soak It Up moisturizer.

My problem is this: Because its SO humid & yucky now..... Nothing is agreeing with me when I do all the steps I mentioned. You can see where the foundation settled into my lines now!

I am all about looking natural with foundation etc! Anybody have any brilliant suggestions????

THank you so much for your time! ;)

Dear Pur Beauty! I am so glad you loved your PUR experience! I too live in humidity and can sympathize! One of the things you may want to try is adding to your skincare routine an oil controlling cleanser like In The Clear. We've got to be conscious of cleansers when addressing oily skin or humidity!

The Green Primer is a fantastic primer but unfortunately it is not silicone free. So when applying the product, I use a (clean) blush brush or similar and I buff it into the skin. This will keep the product layer very (very) light on the skin while still reducing redness.

You want to keep your makeup step applications very light. Go back over specific areas where you need additional coverage.

Hopefully these tips will help! We are in this together!

I love this product - it is the best ever for covering my oily T zone BUT was rather disconcerted to read on the back of the compact about "sunburn alert".That it may increase the skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn and to limit sun exposure while using this product.WE are going in March to the Carribean so naturally am concerned about using it there. What should I use instead? Am confused as in the reviews not one person has mentioned this and they all seem to be using it in the summer. I look forward to hearing from you.

                          A:

Hi! Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to respond and put your mind at ease about this amazing product. The warning is on the product due the inclusion of lactic acid in the ingredients, which is a component of the shell of our proprietary Ceretin Complex. Industry regulations require the "Sunburn Warning" for anything that contains lactic acid because in high enough concentrations it can act as an exfoliant which would increase sun sensitivity; however, the lactic acid content in Balancing Act is less than .01% of the formula which isn't enough to exfoliate anything, quite frankly. So, the product does not pose any sort of sunburn hazard as evidenced by the consumer reviews you've read. It is unfortunate that the sunburn alert is required to be printed on everything based on content rather than concentration which is confusing for many customers. Obviously, in a tropical climate one would typically wear sun protection due to longer exposure and more intense rays which could lead to a sunburn, but rest assured you can use your Balancing Act powder to still control shine without increasing your chances of getting burned. I hope this has helped. Enjoy your holiday!
